A few months before AE '08 was scheduled, they announced that they lost their usual venue at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC, and so the convention was postponed temporarily. As they scrambled to find a replacement venue, there was much outrage and anxieties among attendees as why this happened. In the end AE was held at University of British Columbia, though only a portion of the facilities were used due to AE's late acquisition. Nevertheless UBC was an adequate and decent locale for the convention, and good for cosplay photos, mostly in the outdoor areas, though the wet weather hampered that opportunity part of the weekend. I did see a great variety of cosplay that weekend, even got in on it a little along with my future wife. I still hadn't equaled my triumph in California, but I kept chuggin' along. AE's future however got a little shaky...
