I love this episode because it's about as close as Ranma gets to horror. I can't do real horror, but I love supernatural stuff, especially with a comedic tone. Also, doll-possessed Akane is murderously adorable. Still prefer the manga version of the story, but I do like the anime's yukata.
I've had this on the back-burner for years now, mostly working on it during the summer. I always get side-tracked by other projects and events. The painting is done, except for the vein details on the leaves, but I still need to finish the obi and a mini version of the outfit for my doll. I decided to wear it at Anime Revolution this summer so I could test it out. I like the way the pattern looks for the most part, but if I was to do this again I'd try another method to get it on the fabric. There are so many layers of paint that it's very stiff. I think I'd prefer something similar to batik to get the texture correct, if I could work with a good black dye. Fabric printing might work, except the design runs over the seams so it'd be a bit difficult to figure out. I also think I was a bit too cautious with this, since I did a fairly heavy white base under everything. I was concerned about the colors not showing up properly on the black, but I don't think I did enough testing. Something to keep in mind for the next project.
