We decided to do these costumes to celebrate our marriage. Since our wedding took place the weekend before the convention we were wearing them to, I didn't have any time to devote to sewing until the day after the wedding. My husband got his suit commissioned. I threw my dress together in less than a week, start to finish.

I based my pattern off a vintage gown I took apart. It turned out okay overall, but the fit was off (the base was too small), I didn't have time to make many adjustments, and I didn't have much experience with formal garments. I'm remaking it for our 5th anniversary, with a lot more detail.
