So, all I have for pictures of this cosplay are shitty phone pictures because we never did a shoot... Sorry about that!
Wig: Candy Striper in Harmony (?) from Arda Wigs
Awards: 2nd Place Beginner Group Walk-Ons (Amke 2014)
So! This was my first competitive costume! I know I'm not alone in any of these pictures, and I'm sorry for that! I'm the one that is not wearing a hoop skirt, in case you couldn't figure that out.
Anywho, this entire dress is made of satin except for the collar. The fabric was simply draped on my body, meaning that the skirt is not a proper a-line skirt or anything. It's really hard to walk in, haha! The diamonds were hemmed with monifiliment thread. The top and skirt are separate, each with a zipper down the back. The purple sleeve cuffs are craft foam covered in purple stretch satin (which was actually really nice to work with!). The gems on those cuffs were simply hot glued on. My crown was also made of craft foam and hot glue. My wig was originally really long, but we sectioned it into 3 ponytails and cut off most of the fiber. We took 3 small Styrofoam balls and carved tunnels into them. We HELLA HOT GLUED the ponytails into the balls and spread the hair out over the balls so they looked like buns. These buns are also known as Odango by most of the cosplay community! We glued them onto a headband, and then (finally) we glued a resin gem that our Twilight Sparkle casted for me to the front of the center odango.
