This idea came to me and my sisters pretty late in the game before Dragon*con last year, but once we got bit by the bug, our cosplays came together pretty fast. We drew some inspiration from fanarts we'd seen, but most of the design was original.

For Ariel (my sisters did Kida and Sith!Jasmine), I dyed raw silk her iconic purple and attached it to a base bra, using gathers to simulate the look of her clams. Her pants were sewn out of a slightly glittery teal fabric, with a ruched green, mermaidy waistband that you sadly can't even see. For her boots, I cut out a few hundred scales out of craft foam and glued them one at a time onto some old boots I had after cutting them to shape, then sealed them with modgepodge and painted them green.

Ariel's wig was made by combining wefts from two eBay wigs, which allowed me to add the volume to her bangs. I threw
