MAKI MY LOVE LIVE WIIIIIIIIFE
From Top to Bottom!
Headband is white with a ruffled trim glued to the underside to fluff it up, and a hibiscus glued right on there. Easy peasy.
The jacket top was a pink knit, I had it fit the way it's supposed to where it's a little bit at the bottom to flare out, it's actually really unflattering when wet (well of course it's knit, it gets super heavy and the ruffles are 0/10) but it's the perfect color, ty Jo Ann's at the last second. Easy gathered ruffles on the edges, and lots of ruffle peaking right out of the hood at the seam. I hope at some point to get the right colored cording for the hood (it's supposed to be hot pink, but all I could get was white, and I would have rather it be white than badly colored or dyed). The beads were a chance find at Jo Ann's, and don't look too close because I ended up sewing the sipper backwards into the seam - shhhhh.
The swimsuit top was a custom printed jersey I ordered from Spoonflower (ty Vintage Aerith for putting the print together for me!) along with white swimwear and lining. I just regret that I got the wrong kind of cups for the swimsuit and so it's kind of flimsy, I wouldn't wear this outside of a con I don't think. The pink is a milliskin that ended up being fuzzy on one side??? So I guess not a milliskin but a fuzzy spandex of some kind. But hey it was the perfect color. Slapped a cute little fake bow between the boobs and put some ruffles in the seam of the boob cups, elastic in the straps and some cute turned ribbons to tie off the swimsuit and the top was done.
Bottoms were primarily white swimwear and lining, with the cute custom plaid as the waistband, and hella ruffles out of the same pink. Unfortunately I ran out (I greatly underestimated how much I would need between using it for this costume and my Kallen swimsuit) so the ruffles weren't NEARLY as ruffly as I wanted, but I'm hoping to go back in at some point and fluff them up. Little fake bow on my hip as well, made from a gradient that Vintage Aerith also whipped up for me. I wish that were featured more in pics but there's always another shoot!
Also had lots of fun putting together the bracelet and necklace, I love costumes with lots of little details *v*
Conclusion: I'm happy but not satisfied with my costume, it was my first attempt at swimwear and for that I'm pleased, but I'm not happy with how flat the ruffled ended up being, and I'll hopefully be revisiting the costume, or keeping the ruffles in mind on my next project. Super fun though, hoping for more Love Lives some time soon!
