I always wanted to do a character from one of my favorite series, The World Ends With You. Konishi's outfit always had a simple classy appeal to me. Pictures will come soon (Anime Boston is tomorrow fortunately). For now, here is a construction write-up:
~ Blouse ~
I took a blouse with frills running down the middle and cut the sleeves. Then, I pleated some lace to attach to the arm holes of the blouse.
~ Dress ~
This is the first mini dress I made from scratch. I took an unconventional approach with patterning this by tracing on a tank top overlapped with a miniskirt. As for the vertical folds seen on Konishi's dress, I just creased each section of the dress where I want to add the stitched vertical folds, and sewed along the crease. As for the hem ruffles, I attached lace that was pleated like for the blouse.
~ Accessories ~
Glasses - It's a refresher to get to cosplay in glasses haha! I' m not a huge fan of contacts.
Bracelets - I went with crystal studded black and white bracelets. I think it matches the monochrome of the outfit much better/ No offense to the original designers, but I was never a fan of the dull matte bracelets because lack of matching.
Arm band - I can admit without shame that I never noticed Konishi's arm band until recently (to be fair, they're almost always covered up by her chest). Nonetheless, for making the arm band I just followed a tutorial for making a garter from scratch.
Necktie - layered a black strip of fabric with fabric glue.
Thigh highs and shoes were bought online.
