I used Simplicity 5006 for the bodice. I ended up blending the front panels of size 6, and side and back panels of size 10 to accommodate for a small bust and a large commercial pattern. The envelope suggested I cut a 12 with my measurements! I double boned the corset, sandwiching industrial zip ties between two layers of white denim. The fabric for the bodice is light turquoise sparkle satin. It is embellished with white lace and various Swarovski crystals. I want this dress to be very sparkly!
The bodice panniers and sleeves were made from iridescent organza. Both were self drafted and made from different sized rectangles. The panniers were made with a large rectangle, hemmed on one long side using a rolled ham foot, and gathered on the other three sizes to match the length of the bottom edge of the corset. The sleeves were hemmed on the two long sides, and gathered on both short sides before being hand sewn to the top of the corset.
The skirt is a two layer circle skirt using turquoise sparkle satin and white organza as an underskirt. The skirt was made with two large half circles sewed with a french seam. There is a side zipper and a 2" waistband. The satin was hemmed with 3" horsehair braid for extra body. In May 2016, the skirt was updated with 8 yards of lace trim chosen because it looks like Cinderella's carriage, and 1000 rhinestones for extra flair. The underskirt has a 4" butterfly lace edging to evoke the butterflies from the live action Cinderella dress. This is worn over a four hoop crinoline and 2 layer tulle petticoat.
The wig is self-styled and is a Phoebe from Epic Cosplay Wigs in ash blonde. I readjusted the pony tail and styled it into an elegant curled updo using bobby pins, hairspray, and a hair dryer. I trimmed the bangs to fit my face, and added a headband covered in the bodice fabric with two large rhinestones on the ends..
For the glass slippers, I bought a pair of white pumps and holographic tape off of Amazon. I cut the tape into smaller triangles, and placed the tape on the shoes with about a millimeter of space between tape pieces to represent the facets of crystal. They are so shiny!
