This is the first large con I've gone to, and I went without a plan at all... just my 6D, my prime lenses, and two of the cheap LED lightboxes I got off Amazon. Turns out those lightboxes were the best idea in a long time, because after half a dozen headshots I switched to just doing portraits entirely. They were just coming out so good.
For future shoots I'll likely have a bit more variety, but given that I was a complete unknown going into this con and I had no contacts with anyone outside of my immediate circle of friends who cosplay, all of these shots were from just ambushing people in the courtyard/park behind the convention center and taking a dozen or two photos without any setup time. Regardless, I'm pretty happy with how they came out. Well, aside from my fetish with wide-open apertures and resultant focus issues due to the extremely thin depth of field... that caused quite a few photos to be so out of focus as to be unusable. Lesson learned.
Although I spent my days photographing and didn't really get to hardly any of the con events, it was a damn fun weekend nonetheless.
