For this costume I used my Usagi wig which I had previously made for my casual Crystal outfit so please refer to that for the wig construction. The only difference is that I finally added the curls at the temples.
Skirt
For the skirt I ended up dyeing a cotton to get a better color match and simply knife pleated it, with only the center front being a box pleat and the back an inverted box pleat. It has a simple waistband, center back zipper and a hand sewn catch-stitch/cross-stitch hem. The butt bow is a large rectangle of fabric I interfaced, folded over and pinched in the center with 2 rectangles also interfaced and attached to make the loose ends of the bow. To finish it off, a center band is wrapped around the middle to hide the seams and was attached to the skirt.
Shirt
The shirt is made from a white Kona cotton with puff sleeves that I drafted myself. The sailor collar was also drafted by me and follows the basic shape of any other sailor collar. (Pac-man with a square butt. Haha.) Before lining the collar, I top-stitched the ribbon detail onto it so the stitching underneath would be hidden once lined. From there I attached the collar to the shirt and moved onto the cuffs. The cuffs follow the same basic construction with top-stitching the ribbon on first then attaching to the sleeves. The Red bow follows the same construction as the butt bow but with the addition of a snap on the center front for my brooch.
Brooch
The brooch is made from craft foam, gems, white glue and paint. I stenciled out the shape of the brooch and cut out each layer of craft foam. This allowed for the raised details I needed. I then sealed it with a heavy layer of white glue and let dry then painted with gold spray paint. I then went back and painted the pink areas and then attached my gems. For some of the gems I wasn't happy with the color so I actually painted some with nail polish to get the color I wanted. There is one half of a snap attached to the back of the brooch so I can attach it to my red bust bow. It also allows for new future brooches which I can interchange.
