I was working on Princess Aurora when I found out I was pregnant! Realizing I wouldn't be able to wear the costume once I finished, I switched gears to another princess I've always wanted to be, Giselle from Disney's live action Enchanted. I LOVE her curtain dress, and it had an empire waist that would fit comfortably over my little bump. I had found the blue satin floral print fabric a few years ago in the LA fashion district, and hoarded it away.
I started with McCall's 6030 as a base. It was a good start, but I did add a lot of fullness to the skirt panels. The bust isn't as low cut as hers, but I'm totally fine with that. For the sleeves, they are lined with tulle in the middle as a sandwich to really hold their shape, and have elastic on either side. Those took some experimenting, but everything else was very straight forward! There are four layers of underskirt, two creme layers and two pink layers of chiffon finished with a rolled hem. The blue satin layer hem is finished with horsehair braid for a little more flounce. I used blue Casa satin from my stash to make the ribbon that goes under the bust. I used fake flowers from Dollar Tree and hand sewed them onto the dress. It zips up the back with an invisible zipper. I retained a lot of water and gained weight really quickly with this pregnancy, so I could barely zip it by the time the con came, and it was very snug fitting, especially in the chest! I hope to alter it to fit later when I lose the baby weight.
Wig is a lace front from Wig Is Fashion that I added the organza ribbons (also from Dollar Tree) and flowers to. White boots are Funtasma brand. I've actually had them forever, originally using them for Sailor Iron Mouse.
Plastic roaches found from an Amazon seller. xD
