How I made:
Obi= The obi is backed with a double layer of 6 mm fosshape. A wide elastic is sewn like a belt to go around the front. On the back I secured two very thick pieces of floral wire, they are sewn and then covered with glue. The snake heads slide over the wires. I then sewed a kind of snake 8 shaped pillow in the middle and made a long tube of the snake which I hand stitched together. I then took one side of that tube and hand stitched it to the fosshape, then the other side is Velcro. This way I can slide it over my head, Velcro the snake around me, then add the snake heads. The sides of the obi are less stuffed so it is more flattering.
Kimono- I patterned the Simon a little different bthan traditional because I have very wide hips so I tried to accomdate that. The kimono is made with cotton, gradient dyed with a lining in the sleeves only. The trim is all made with bright colored twill and satin stitched (13 hours worth).
