Though I had made a couple of simpler costumes earlier, I think of Madoka as the point where cosplay became a hobby for me. The series reinvigorated my longtime interest in magical girl anime, and I knew that I wanted to cosplay a character from it, even though making any of their costumes would be a challenge. I’m really glad that I did, and wearing Madoka for the first time at Nebraskon 2011 is one of my favorite cosplay memories!

Though I first made this costume in 2011, I remade most of it in 2013 to wear to my first ACen. This photo is from that second version of the costume. Counting both versions, I wore Madoka to five cons, making her the character who I have cosplayed the most!
