First of all, it's made of satin because that's what sukajan are actually made out of. http://supermerlion.com/sukajan/ It's dark blue but often photographs brighter... oh well.
I found a bomber jacket pattern online and used that to make a mockup that I fought with for a long time. I made vectors of the details, sized them on my computer, then cut out the shapes with my vinyl cutter. I used those as stencils. The designs were traced onto heat n bond which was then ironed onto the wrong side of the same white satin I used for the sleeves. These were all doused in Fray Check, ironed on, and top stitched around the edges.
I got REALLY lucky and one day found a sweater that had the perfect cuffs, hem, and collar for this jacket and I got it for like... two bucks. I ripped those off and added them to the jacket.
It is fully lined with a fully functional zipper even though Ryuko's jacket technically doesn't have any kind of closure... but I thought it would look stupid without one.
The pockets are fake fake fake and I don't know what to do about it oh well!
The skirt is made from some poly-cotton I got at Mood years and years ago. The shirt is from my closet.
