So if you know me, you know my FIERCE love of Kill la Kill and how I fell in love with the show and Ryuko specifically almost immediately. If you know me you may not know that I have struggled with my weight since I was twelve and don't have the body or the confidence to do costumes that reveal my stomach. So I was E C S T A T I C when the second episode aired and showed this outfit in the ending animation. I almost could not sleep because I was so excited that I could cosplay Ryuko! The next day I went out and bought fabric and... almost immediately stopped making it because I couldn't figure out how to do the collar. I got a lot of help from Maridah-senpai on how to make facings but I was a bit scared to try and actually do it, so the costume sat unfinished for a couple of months. Eventually I did figure it out and I was very proud of how this turned out!
Here is a quick description of how I learned to make collars and facings - I hope to do a real tutorial soon! http://luluko.tumblr.com/post/79604813929
Black fabric is poly poplin, the shirt is a lovely stretch bottomweight that I found at SAS (which means I will never find it again) and the red is bottomweight I had in my stash.
