I started on this in 2014, realized I would not have it done in time for Dcon that year, and set it aside.
When I got called up for jury duty in May this year I immediately began thinking, what can I take with me to work on?? I thought, what if I keep working on my Donna dress from last year? So I dug it out and after assessing what I had, decided I needed to start over. (And then discovered I couldn't take needles/scissors with me anyway, so my whole reasoning was a moot point.)
I blew up screencaps of the dress and drew out the basic elements in photoshop - then printed it full size (tiled) and used that to trace guidelines onto my dress. One of my machines had a nice serpentine stitch so I went over each traced line with that, then used that as a guideline for my beading and embroidery. All together it took about 2 months. I'm quite happy with it (although I did simplify the design on the back of the cape because by then, I was over it!)
