This Visual Kei outfit was designed and made by me for my school's Japanese Fashion Show. Later on, I had the opportunity to model it at A-Kon 2016's Japanese Fashion Showcase as well.
I made the vest, skirt and gloves and sewed wefts into the wig. The outfit consists of various leftover fabrics I had on hand, like satins, brocades, chiffons, organzas, and linings. Over 100 gromments were hammered on by hand, and the ends of the layers were melted with a candle to seal them and prevent fraying. I had some help styling the wig from Ryo, and the shorts are from Forever 21.
I was inspired by the style of Teru from the JRock band Versailles/Jupiter. It was liberating and refreshing to make something of my own design, and I look forward to creating more original outfits!
