This turned out to be an amazingly fun costume to wear. It was pretty comfortable to pose in, easy to move around in (minus the GIGANTIC prop), and it garnered a lot of attention since Soul Eater seems to becoming more and more popular. The costume itself is really simple, but the craftsmanship is all in the details. The biggest disappointment I have in terms of this costume is that I wasn't able to get a lot of pictures that really do the costume or the prop much justice.
Wig - is an "Innocent" wig from amphigory, it was straightened using the hot water method and then cut to the appropriate length. I wasn't really able to thin out the pigtails so they aren't as slim as Maka's actually are, but the overall style is there.
Altered Clothing - The button down shirt, sweater vest, and tie were all purchased and then altered in their respective ways: elastic was added to the sleeves of the shirt to make them puffy, the sweater vest was taken in and fitted, and the stripes of the tie were painted on.
Jacket - was made using a men's matrix jacket pattern, which was taken in drastically at almost every seam. It is fully lined and closes with snap tape at the torso. The buttons were molded and cast in resin.
Skirt - since Maka's skirt requires a specific plaid pattern and I was unable to find identical fabric I decided to make my own. The base is red cotton target that was pleated and marked where I wanted the plaid lines to fall. The fabric was then un-pleated and all of the lines were sewn on in either bias tape or ribbon. The skirt was then once again pleated and sewn to the waist band.
Boots - have more of a heel than Maka's actually do, but they were the most similar to her boots shape that I could locate. The sole's are painted and the belts are made from plastic vinyl that was sewn first, to give it the look of being part of the boot, and then glued to the boots.
Witch Hunter - was made by my super talented Soul <3! (Sara). It is composed of a PVC pipe and vinyl siding frame, onto which plastic sheeting and LCD lights (blue and white) were affixed. To give reference to how tall/wide it is, I am about 5'9" in my boots.
