I used the Simplicity "Game of Thrones" pattern as a base for this costume, but I ended up making a mock up so that I could get the neckline the correct shape and add in seams where the original has seams. I ended up using a grey polyester suiting for the base of the dress because any wool that I could find in the right color/texture was way out of my price range. The green portions are an olive green satin with ribbon vine's sewn on and all of the leaves individually glued down. The dress is also completely lined in a light purple quilters cotton.
The detailing on the neckline is made out of the same fabric shaped into rolled roses plus some embroidery thread, tear drop beads, and some fabric ferns. The embroidery on the sides of the bodice was all done by hand and took approximately 25-30 hours. I haven't embroidery anything since I was about 10, but I had a lot of fun relearning the skill and I'm looking forward to doing more hand embroidery on future costumes. The necklace is a stand in made at the last minute by my wonderful boyfriend since I was unable to get an "official" copy of her dragonfly necklace in time for the convention. Unfortunately the zipper that I put in the back of the dress ended up splitting and breaking, so I have to go back and put a newer and stronger one in before I can wear the dress again.
This was my firs time using a lace front wig and I absolutely love the look of it. The wig is an Arda "Danny" that was straightened and then sectioned off and braided appropriately.
