Kilik was a character I'd been wanting to do since I was a kid. I grew up playing Soul Calibur, and I always admired his costume. So, for Youmacon 2013, I decided to have a go at making Kilik!
His costume took a total of 2 and a half months to make. Everything, from top to bottom, was made by myself.
His jacket and pants were made from hand drafted patterns, and are made out of this beautiful silk like fabric with a rose print on it. When I was fabric shopping, I kept in mind that there's a pattern on his clothing, and thought that that fabric would work the best.
All of the designs were hand painted on, and were outlined with painted golden bias tape that was all sewn on. The jacket is fully lined, and there are also hand-painted designs in the inside.
The shoes were made to look like traditional martial arts shoes, and were made with fabric, foam, and foam sandals.
The belts were made using foam and hot glue for the designs. They were spray painted gold and then aged by hand.
The shoulder piece was made using thick foam and then model magic on top of it to get the design.
