I used a very nice cotton for the maroon/burgundy dress. I had to take a basic A-line skirt concept and split it into three parts. Each one I think was something like 34-36" across at the end. The top is 3 panels I modified completely differently from the pattern I got so it was accurate to the characters design. 1.5" horsehair was attached to the bottom of the skirt and then white satin ribbon stitched over the line to hide. 20" zipper is used to open and close the back of the dress.
Blouse was bought at a goodwill and heavily modified the sleeves, collar, and shirt. Luckily I found a blouse with hidden buttons. I had to install a clasp to close it all the way up to even the collar. Added trim to the edges for the ruffles and the collar. Sleeves are adjustable.
Cape is made from left over fabric I have had laying around from I believe a Kilik mantle I had made years ago. Lined and understiched with a top stitch to go along the top cape part. clasp to get it attached and two snaps for the bow to sit. Bow is made out of stretch and interfaced on all sides. I painted the details of the "arrow" and free handed the circle. Originally going to be the crest design but ran out of time.
Underskirt is made from some cheap scuba fabric I bought for other projects and decided to save money and use on this one. two circle skirts and gathered ruffle trim added to the bottom for "show". Not really much time and thought into as it was there for accuracy purposes.
Shoes are little girls shoes bought in a size 12 and painted with fabric paint and acrylic. Lucked out finding these babies and they are sooo comfy! Socks bought from Target.
Wig color accuracy was difficult and I feel I did a relatively decent job getting it. I ended up getting a Kagura wig from Gintama and then just cutting the heck out of it to get the short length I needed to frame the face and bangs.
Overall a great learning experience and I will be using the dress pattern again for several other cosplays and concepts I had in mind.
