The top was made with two different patterns, one for the poofy sleeves and once for the bodice. I'm not very happy with how it turned out. I hope to remake it in the future.
The red skirt is basically a huge circle skirt broken up into panels. This involved quite a bit of math so I can’t remember all the specifics. (I’m horrible with numbers.) The length of the skirt was about double the length so I could add the ruffles. The ruffles are made with elastic half the length from the middle of the skirt to the end of the fabric. (Since there’s the black overskirt I didn’t see the need to make ruffles all the way up the skirt) The elastic was stretched out as far as it could go and sewn in with my sewing machine.
All the gold details are hand painted. The "eagle" designs on the black overskirt (which was another big circle skirt cut to the shape I wanted) were done by making a template in Illustrator and tracing them on the fabric. I used Jacquard fabric paint, which I like a lot because it doesn't need a lot of coats.
