The armor for Sumia was made out of the thermoplastic Terraflex (I will have a review up at some point for those who are interested in how it behaves). All of the pieces were patterned out via wrapping myself in clingfilm and then tracing out the patterns. Those patterns were then put on my body form to even them out and then the first layer was cut out of craft foam. The craft foam was sandwiched in between two layers of terraflex and sealed with a few coats of wood glue. The armor was then painted black and dry brushed silver.

The staff is two pieces of PVC pipe friction fitted together to easily transport it. The spear head is made out of a base of plyboard and then sprayed with expanding foam and carved to shape. The swirl detail is scrap Terraflex melted down and rolled to shape.

The dress, arm bands, and boot covers are stretch suiting material and the accents are stretch cotton sateen.


From start to finish, the costume took about 1.5 months
