My favorite female Street Fighter character! I was going to have to do this costume someday.

This project started with what I considered the most difficult part: the wig. I bought a brown wig from Amphigory and a few wefts for the base. I used a few of the wefts to make the back part and stubbed both sides. I used foamcore for the buns.

The hair covers are a cotton fabric with the gold designs Heat n Bonded into place at the ends of the ribbons. I appliqued along the edge of the bun covers with a gold thread for a bit of extra color (Some versions on Chun Li have this added detail anyway). I sewed a strip of elastic on the inside of the bun covers to create the ruffles and hold it in place on the wig.

The dress made from a stretch cotton sateen and is patterned from a Chinese dress (with a few changes). I had to find a separate pattern to get the sleeves the right shape. Once I had the pattern correct, I dyed the fabric by mixing a ton of blue dye together. I was pretty specific about the color I wanted. The yellow designs are a light, slightly shiny material I found at Joanns. I used Heat n Bond to hold it in place while I appliqued them to the blue dress.

The pants are a stretch fabric I found at Spandex world and they were probably the easiest piece of this cosplay. The belt, also made of cotton sateen, was based off of a corset pattern and hooks closed in the back. I created and hand painted the dragon design based off of a combination of the many different artwork pieces I found of Chun-Li.

The bracelets are fun foam with fimo clay spikes and they clamp together with strong magnets. They are pretty heavy, but very sturdy. The boots were a real challenge. I bought a base shoe and made custom boot covers so I could make them as accurate as possible. I think each shoe had about 30 grommets!

Overall I am very pleased with this cosplay. :)
