Debuted: Mizucon 2013

I first made this costume, after much uncertainty due to insecurity, based on the swimming anime clip (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NqRG88E-s8). It was way before the series became official. So the stripes on my pants were based on that and not the actual series. Then the first official trailer for Free! came out and I made sure I got it all correct. I also made a jacket for Haru based on that first trailer. The jacket here isn't mine, but a commission for my friend Natasha. Only the pants are mine.
I added the Iwatobi logo right after the first episode came out only to debut the costume the next day at Florida Supercon 2013 with my friend Romeo Flynn Winchester as Makoto (also made his pants).
The pants are lycra with an elastic band at the waist. The stripes are made with tape acting as stencils, white acrylic paint, and purple fabric paint over.
