Primary inspiration was a “Medieval Moltres” theme with some emphasis on period accuracy (shoes, dress and hairstyle.) The base dress is Butterick B4827 with custom sleeves and train, in cream peachskin satin--gradient dyed in a tub over a gas grill using iDye Poly in yellow and orange. The 56 layers of chiffon (4 colors) were sewn on as rectangles and cut into flames/feathers once attached. Other materials include various gold trim and silk ribbon, ostritch feather boa secured with fabric glue, 300 heat-set Swarovski crystals, 5 seasons of Supernatural, and a small sacrifice to the crafting gods. Base dress was sewn with a machine, all else (chiffon, trim, etc.) stitched by hand. All labor and design done by myself.
