So I saw this fanart while scrolling through tumblr, and followed it to the ever talented Abraham Cruz's deviantart, it suddenly hit me how badly I wanted to cosplay his portrayal of the character. I'd always wanted to do a proper cosplay of Sailor Moon, I just never wanted to bother with the ridiculous wig or fitting of a sailor senshi uniform. This seemed much more appealing, but it definitely proved some challenges.
The jacket I found at a thrift store, by sheer destiny, and I swapped the buttons on it. The skirt is actually a tutu dress by Leg Avenue that I found at the costume store and painted one layer of. I also got the petticoat for added fluff and the sunglasses at the same place (the ears are literally just painted cardboard hotglued on because I'm classy like that). The shoes were another thrift store purchase that I attached boot covers to. Now let me tell you a brief story. I'm not much of a sew-er. I have a sewing machine, but using it scares me, so I essentially figured out how to hand sew with this project. They ended up a lot shorter than originally planned simply because I messed up my pattern (which I used duct tape and saran wrap to get a form of my foot/leg and that was essentially terrifying). Either way, I did somehow get them sewn, they stayed in one piece, and I stained my legs for a week from painting them. They were attached to the shoes using, again, hot glue (I burned my fingers a lot before Ohayocon weekend).
The belt and choker were hand sewn as well, and oh my god, that bow for the belt is seriously the biggest bow I've ever made. I mean really.
All in all, no one knew who I was, but I had SO much fun running around that I didn't really care much. Though my feet hurt so bad it was hard to breath towards the end, but that's okay.
