First deployed: Anime North 2013
I played Pit in SSBB as my top 3 picks so I wanted to cosplay him when I first discovered cosplay in the first place but dismissed it as too complicated.
Now several years later and when Kid Icarus: Uprising came out, there was an official Dark Pit that looked pretty cool so I went with that. XD
I made the bracers first since it was the simplest component out of good ol craft foam. Protip: Be sure to seal the paint job on foam, I forgot to and the gold chipped and flaked and I got gold dust on me all day >_<
Greaves was fabric wrapped around foam with fun fur trim, and the other random accessories were more foam. Except the shoulder gem, that was resin casted in two layers.
The toga thing was a confusing mess when looking at references so I made it into a two-ish piece thing. The top simulating a real toga and the bottom butt cover that went on underneath. The random design on the purple trim was hand painted - a much easier method than trying to cut it out of fabric and glue/sew on.
The wings were simply made of coat hangers and felt feathers. The felt was cut out and imbued with a whiteglue/water solution then hung to dry that stiffened them up nicely. The problem with this design, which I have still yet to figure out a solution, is it can't be transported easily as it spans about 5ft (better than my 7ft span of my first costume) and I'm afraid to bend down the middle and snapping the wires. Theres also no harness, and I'm relying soley on it resting in my flimsy tanktop to keep it up. I'm planning on taking this on the rails for a train and bus ride so hopefully an idea manifests soon. XD
The Silver Bow was actually made by Featherweight industries. It's awesome and the split/join is quite sturdy. I am currently working on constructing his sniper rifle because I am a ranged DPS at heart XD
