I love making over the top Lolita outfits with themes. This one came about because of the hat. I got the hat from my mother-in-law and I wanted to use it for Lolita. But I couldn't think of anything to do with it. SO I though I would reach out to my local community for help. Someone suggested adding rabbit ears and a image came to mind of the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.
So I drew a design of what I wanted and went for it.
I started with the shirt and I wanted it to be fluffy. Like really, really fluffy. So I went with the layers and gathers. But I only had a heavy fabric. Now I'm going to bare myself here. This skirt is made out of tablecloths. Yes. You read that right, tablecloths and it very heavy. So I had to make a extra puffy petticoat to go under it. I'm so happy with how it turned out.
Next I made the vest with a watch pocket out of a really cute cream with navy blue heart on it. Then the jacket. I wanted the jacket to be like the original White Rabbit's jacket, but looking at it, that style wasn't going to really work. But then I found a pattern that was perfect for it.
Then the hat. I wanted to add in the color red for the Queen of Hearts, because that who the Rabbit kinda works for, so I hand painted the lace that was added to the hat, printed out on cardstock some vintage play cards. I could not have this with out some roses and pearls either.
