Worn at Otakon 2013 and AnimeUSA '13
About three weeks before Otakon 13, my friend found out that he could go to Otakon. We had both always wanted to cosplay Mary Poppins and Bert. Only problem? THREE WEEKS BEFORE THE CONVENTION! I still can't believe we got it done in time. I made my Mary Poppins shirt before work the day before we left and I was painting the last stripes on his jacket just hours before we left for Maryland. (Heh, Mary Poppins. Maryland.)
The dress was made from scratch using Truly Victorian patterns (TV208, TV492 , and a heavily altered TV491). The hat was also very altered. I bought it on eBay, sewed on ribbons, flattened the crown, and added tulle and flowers. I also painted the shoes and umbrella.
As of August 2013, this was probably my most popular cosplay to date. I'm still blown away when I remember how we had so many people ask for our picture and how people applauded when we started skipping.
