I had caught the last few episodes of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann on the SyFy channel way back in 2009. Several years later while in my first year of college, I began re-watching the series on Crunchyroll. I fell in love with Nia the moment she first appeared, thanks to her kind, bubbly, and optimistic view of the world. (Plus, her outfits were so cute!) About a month after I had finished the series, I had been deciding on what costumes to bring/make for Hamacon. With the 10th anniversary of Gurren Lagann coming up, I figured: why not? All in all, this costume was a fun learning experience for me and helped me develop more as a prop/accessory maker. I’d love to make another Nia costume again.
