One of my longest working projects, also has the most layers. I did extensive research into historic Japanese clothes so that I could make Hakudoshi to the best of my abilities. The costume breaks down (from most under layer to outer) as a juban, hitoe, hakucho kariginu, and the kukuri-bakama. In other words it has a very under white 'kimono', a black 2nd layer, the outer 'coat' and then the pants. I used the clothing listed for a hakucho sugata as a base reference as it was the closest I could find that looked like what Hakudoshi wears. The sleeve details are machine embroidered, and the fabric 'buttons' are made of light cotton. The outer kariginu and kukuri-bakama are made of a heavy cotton and the two under layers are made of light cotton. |
