Originally complete in 2014. I seriously love this costume so much. Not only is it super fuzzy, but it's just awesome to wear over all. It's comfy, for the most part, and it's also another retro costume that the fans respond really well to.
okay, from head to toe:
The horns I made myself, they are a polymer clay which I moulded, baked and then painted. They are super heavy for their size, but not enough to give me a head ache or anything. They are a bit dangerous, just because of their weight. I have to be very careful about turning my head. Should I wear this costume again, which I really want to, I'll probably glue the horns directly to the wig to make it a bit easier on myself.
The wig is actually a specialty wig made for cosplaying Angelina Durless/Madam Red. No it is not my original one from when I made that costume. That one has been lost somewhere in the abyss of my life. When I received it, it was way too long, so I ended up cutting and styling it myself anyway. So the extra cost spent on a pre-styled, widow's peak wig was absolutely pointless.
The wings are actually re-cycled from Vixen's Darkstalkers costume. I would have used mine, but that would mean I would have to repaint them, and I didn't want to because I might wear my Lilith again at some point. Luckily, the colour scheme for Morrigan is almost a perfect match for what Pixie's wings look like!
The top is made out of a faux fur. Rather than a traditional red, I wanted it to be be truer to the anime version of the character, so I looked for an almost raspberry shade. Luckily I found it at Dressew in Vancouver. Unluckily, it's like muppet fur and it was super hard to work with because it was so thick. I had to sew the majority of the outfit by hand, as well as use generous amounts of glue because my sewing machine was not able to get through it. Because of this, I actually built the top around a bra, sewing the fur directly to it, then shaping and sewing the rest of the top around that. I eventually had to cut the straps out of the bra because otherwise they would have been visible through the heart shaped keyhole, but because everything else was so fitted, it didn't matter that the bra no longer had straps.
The bottoms are just bottoms... with fur. The tail I will redo if I ever wear this costume again because I ended up being not very happy with it. It's a little floppy and lame :C
The toe claws were done with unclipped, fake nails. They held up pretty well, I think I lost only one over the coarse of the convention. I ended up using super glue to glue them on, which was probably not the best idea, but it worked.
