This was originally made in late 2009. I have worn it I think two or three times since then. I really want to wear it again, but because it is so warm, I rarely get the chance to.
This one was a quickie. I didn't really know akicon existed till a friend suggested I go... My main concern was warmth. After wearing the Rikku costume to sakuracon in Seattle, I was really scared about Everett's November weather. So I wanted something fairly covered. My friend wanted to go as Aerith, and because I like to match with her I decided to do an FFVII character as well. My first instinct was Genesis, but then I decided Cloud. Figuring out a Buster sword was far too difficult, and my favorite characters from the movie were the clones, so I settled on Kadaj. His costume's fairly straight forward, and I wouldn't be cold. Plus I got to wear some badass serial killer gloves.
From head to toe:
The wig is made of kanekelon (sp?), and is still wearable to this day.
The shoulder pieces are made of pleather, cardboard and batting.
The coat itself is really heavy, and made from a thicker pleather material. The sheath is attached to the coat so that accounts for some of the weight. The sheath is made of cardboard, duct tape, pleather and plastic tubing.
The pants are just black, cotton pants.
The straps are made of pleather, and I've had to replace them several times. If I do wear this again I might just suck it up and buy leather, despite it being so expensive.
The sword was not made by me. It was actually made by a girl on cosplay.com, ChibiInuTsuzuki.
