My name is Rei Star, or Rei, an ambitious cosplayer who enjoys performing on stage and meeting other wonderful people at conventions. I first cosplayed back in 2007 as Kairi from Kingdom Hearts 2 (sewn by my grandmother) but didn't officially begin to sew until 2008. My very first costumes I made were Yuna Braska's Songstress and Gunner outfits from Final Fantasy X-2. I was mostly self taught until I attended college in Fall 2011, wanting to further my skills and perhaps become a Costume Designer.
I interned as a Costume Designer Assistant under the instructor Shirley Pierson, on costumes for both Assassins (Cygnet Theatre, San Diego, CA) and The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler (Diversionary Theatre, San Diego, CA). My biggest influence in sewing is my grandmother and my biggest support has always been my parents.
Due to life events, I took a whole year concentrating on school. Then I recently made a costume and realized just how much I missed cosplaying and decided to get back into the swing of things. It's time to take everything that I learned so far and put them to the test! I want to further my skills and learn from the best!
I hope to share my creations with all of you and I hope that my costumes bring a smile to everyone's faces!
